Below is the process of deactivating Windows Defender through the Microsoft Group Policy Management (GPO) while using OfficeScan:
- Go to Tools on the Server Manager Dashboard and then select Group Policy Management. For opening the Group Policy Management folder you can also use Windows key + R > gpmc.msc.
- Go to Group Policy Management> select Forest> Domains> your Domain> Group Policy Objects and then navigate to the Policy that needs to be adjusted.
Then right-click on policy, click Edit after selecting Default Domain Policy. You will see GPM editor window.
- Now go to Computer Configuration> then Policies> Settings> Administrative Templates Policy definitions> Components> and then Windows Defender. You will see its window.
- Click Turn off Windows Defender under Settings option. Tick the Enabled button when the Turn off Windows Defender window displays, click OK after Apply option.
After next reboot or update, the Domain member machines will take the settings immediately using Windows + R> ‘gpupdate /force’.
